How does buying a prepaid sub meter from Imperium Metering work?
When you buy one of our prepaid sub meters it will be delivered to your door within 3 – 7 working days (nationwide delivery). You will need to contact a trusted electrician to install your prepaid meter.
How long does delivery take and how much is delivery?
We provide nationwide delivery within 3 – 7 working days. We have a flat rate fee of R99.
Do you provide an electrician to install the prepaid meter?
No unfortunately you will need to provide your own installation electrician.
What is a prepaid sub meter?
A prepaid meter is a device that helps the user control & regulate the usage of electricity or water. It works much like a prepaid cellphone whereby you pay upfront before you use it, therefore eliminating large unexpected monthly bills.
What are the benefits of a prepaid sub meter?
Landlords ensure that tenants are paying for electricity or water before consuming it and will not be lumped with large unpaid bills at the end of the lease. Easily resolve disputes on the amount of electricity or water consumed. Tenants are able to monitor their consumption by checking the easy to read meter and adjust their consumption accordingly.
How do I recharge my prepaid electricity sub meter?
You can use the unique number on each card that comes with your meter to buy prepaid electricity tokens from a trusted source.
You will receive a credit token with a 20 digit number. Simply enter the number on your meter keypad and press the red button to recharge.
Where can I purchase prepaid electricity tokens?
Prepaid electricity tokens are available at various Retail Store, Banks and Petrol Stations nationally. You can also get tokens online or from mobile vendors.
Can I use Imperium Metering prepaid sub meter to replace my Eskom electricity account?
No, Imperium Metering prepaid meters provides prepaid vending and collection services to owners and managers of buildings and sectional title properties. The municipality only collects meter readings from the bulk meter. Landlords and agents have to manage collection from individual tenants or unit owners. Imperium Metering Prepaid provides a collection service that is safe, easy and convenient.
How do I register my Imperium Metering meter(s)?
It is easy to register your Imperium Metering pre-paid sub-meter(s). The registration forms are included with each meter and you can use one form for multiple meters. Once completed, send the completed registration form back to Imperium Metering via WhatsApp or E-mail.
How does the Imperium Metering Lifetime Warranty* work?
Imperium Metering offers a Lifetime Warranty* on selected prepaid electricity meters. The warranty is only valid if the registration form is correctly completed, and on presentation of proof of purchase – original invoice, sales slip indicating date of purchase, dealers name, model, serial number and a certificate of compliance for the installation of the prepaid meter. *Terms and Conditions apply.

How long does it take to fit and activate a Imperium Metering prepaid meter?
A qualified electrician will fit the meter within a day. Once the registration form is completed and sent to Imperium Metering with the documents required, it will be processed and you will receive an SMS to notify you that your meter is activated.
